Christmas on my mind

It was bound to happen sooner or later, so I better come clean... I´ve got Christmas on my mind. I do love the "decking the halls" bit of Christmas, and I can not wait to get started.

I am itching to go up to the attic to get the box of Christmas decorations down, and to have a good look at what is inside. Not that I am in for any surprises... what the box contains is exactly what I put in it at the end of last Christmas.

But a year is a long time (even though time seems to fly) and I have half forgotten what I have in manner of all things festive. I have made one new purchase this autumn, and that will be revealed in my next post (I just can not wait to hang them up, even if it is only November...)

Oh well, as you can see my favourite Christmas mugs (from Spode) are also "out", even though I have yet to actually drink my morning tea from them. I have also finished the Christmas stockings I prepared for the workshop I had in October.

And I am afraid that the box of Christmas decorations will come down from the attic before long. A few pretty angels in the window can surely not hurt anyone... neither the residents of this little house nor the angels. Right...?

Måste bara få säga att du har fantastiskt vackra strumpor här på bilden. Rolig grej av små bitar, god idé.

Hi Mia.. we have Thanksgiving here on Thursday, so I'm in the middle of making lists and planning a huge turkey dinner here for our 2 sons and their families. But the day after, the Christmas things will start their march out to inhabit our farmhouse here in Oregon. Can't wait to see all of yours.. and I'll show you mine. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I'm thinking a lot about Christmas but won't start decorating until the first of December. Well, maybe a few days before. When Advent begins. But I've begun clearing away other decor to make ready for Christmas.
I love those mugs of yours.

Kos deg i førjulstiden.
Bente

In late November, the holiday is so desirable. My little daughter also can not wait for when we start to decorate the house.

Here in the US, most people put up their tree and start decorating for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. That would be this coming weekend, so you aren't all that early in your decorating in US terms! Just tell your family and friends that you are following the American custom of decorating in November!

Love the stockings! They are so adorable! Just the right amount of denim, floral, and ribbon. You have such a good eye for putting fabrics together.

It's always interesting to see the different traditions in countries at Christmas time. I think nearly everyone in Europe follows a similar tradition of decorating very close to Christmas. Here is Australia the tree and all the decorations go up at the end of November and are not taken down until the new year - that's nearly 6 weeks of Christmas fun so maybe you can just say you are following the Australian traditions! xxBrenda
