Tea cosy

A grey and autumn-like day today... a good excuse to put to use my new knitted grey tea cosy. Now I wish I could say I have knit it myself, but that is unfortunately not the case. I bought the cosy from an elderly lady (who had made it herself) at the weekly market in Bantry, Ireland, this summer.

But the thing is I would dearly love to learn to knit one like this. I think it would make for lovely Christmas pressies for tea drinking friends, don´t you? Unfortunately I am not an accomplished knitter, and (even thought I thought I could) am not sure I can "read" the pattern just by studying this particular cosy.

So here is a question to you lovely blog readers. Do any of you know how to knit a cosy like this one? Or do you know where an instruction for making one can be found? It would be highly appreciated by this particular blogger (who has already started to think about the fast approaching holiday... have you?)

I have the pattern that my grandmother and mother used to knit tea cozies like this. I could scan it in and send it to you if you'd like to tell me where to send it. xo

Sorry, can't knit for toffee! Would love to be able too though! There's definitely an autumn feel here too! Ada :)

There is a similar tea cozy in the book Gentle Art of Knitting by Jane Brocket. I've not made anything from the book yet, but I enjoy re-reading her book The Gentle Art of Domesticity.

Hello. Yes the Gentle art of knitting has the same pattern in several different sizes. It's a lovely book and simple patterns. I've managed to knit my first pair of socks from the book so it must be simple!

Have a look at Ravelry, its a wonderful world. xxBrenda

Du finner den der og mange andre fine varianter på Ravelry. Skriv "Tea pot" i søkeordet på mønster så kommer de opp alle sammen. Det var en som var helt lik den du har her også.

Du må ha bruker og passord, men det koster ingenting.

Yes look on Ravelry. I just typed Tea Cosy in the search and this is one of the first that popped up:

My friend just made a similar one and said it was very easy but you feel like it has gone wrong till you have knitted about ten rows and then you can see it is pleating up nicely.

Well Mia, I can see that others have come to the pattern rescue before me.

I do like the subtle colors used in your tea cozy, and now look forward to seeing which colorways you may choose to make your own versions.

Klem:)
