Sunday

At this point it seems that winter is never ending. It has been quite nippy here of late, down to -26 C at worst. On top of it all it is even snowing today. Truth be told I am getting a wee bit tired of winter, and long for spring.

I know it will be a long wait, but what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than sitting by the fire, reading gardening books, whilst dreaming of spring. Monty Don is my gardening guru, he is so knowledgable and I totally enjoy his writing.

The cherry branches I brought indoors in early January never really made it to full blossom. The tender buds turned brownish before opening up properly. So into the compost they went yesterday, to be replaced by these small pussy willows.

Now they have not exactly reached the desired fluffy softness yet, but I live in hope. Just as I live in hope that this winter will come to an end, and that there indeed is light, warmth and spring at the end of this long winter tunnel.

I remember as a child growing up where winters didn't end until late April/early May. Spring was slushy. I'm glad those days are past.

I hope you get some nice Spring weather soon enough. At least you have some buds on trees. Now that is something.

It's not as cold in Texas today as you are in Norway, but as a fellow gardner, I'm sitting by the fire and paging through my gardening books. Plans are already in the works for spring.

Jeg gleder meg over snøen som kommer, og i morgen kommer det mer. kanskje får vi skiføre snart. Har vært ute i det friske været og kjørt akebrett med tanteunga i dag, og det var herlig! Ha en fin søndag videre.

I saw you on Pondside's blogroll and came over for a visit. The colours in your home are so fresh and spring-like. Given that spring is still a long way off, you've provided a beautiful blast of colour.

I too am longing for spring! Was just thinking this morning wish I could put on a pair of shorts and dig in my flowers. Your beautiful spring colors are so pretty and looking at gardening books is a good idea to help while away the winter blahs! Happy Sunday! Love your blog!

It has been an extremely long winter here in Alaska as well, so my heart goes out to you!! We have been having really cold weather this year, down to 25 below zero, but this morning I woke up to a very warm 38 degrees....Old man winter is losing his grip thank goodness. I know it's still not time for spring, but the warmth sure feels wonderful, hopefully it will drift your way!!!
I love your living room it's so cozy looking! Enjoy your gardening book and dream some dreams for me to!!
Hugs,
Chris :o)

Hello There!

I love your site!!! your blog is so beautiful and so inspiring. It is freezing in England too at the moment, but nothing like Norway. Looking at your blog makes me want to start crocheting a nice big blanket, even though spring is around the corner. Could I please ask you which pattern are using for your ripple blanket? it is sooo pretty and very soft...unlike many other patterns I have seen.
Many thanks,
