The roses are back!

How I do wish the roses really were back in my garden. But since this will not be the case for a good while yet, I will have to get my "rose-fix" elsewhere. And what better place than in the bedroom. On the old chair.

For the past three years this very chair has been clad in a white vintage sheet from France, but since it was about time to give the loose cover a wash, I decided to replace it with these roses.

The rose fabric is my favourite of all Laura Ashley fabrics (long since discontinued, I believe). I love the slightly vintage, 50s look of it. And I love the various shades of pink. Just as I love the cotton/linen mix of the fabric itself.

I made this loose cover years ago, but for the past three years it has been "resting" on the loft. But now it is back, while the white one is in the wash. And not just for now... I think I shall leave the roses on for a good while. At least until I get to enjoy real ones in my garden again.

Thank you to Jodi@Pleasant-Home for your lovely post and kind words about Mias Landliv.

Mia... what a lovely chair cover! Your white was so crisp and pretty, but the roses are so cheery and bring a smile. You have inspired me to pull out a beautiful old painting of a basket of yellow roses to re-frame and enjoy. The next time I pass by the floral display at the local grocery store... I'll be even more tempted to pick up a bouquet of pretty roses. Sending you warm thoughts and good wishes from our little home in south Georgia, USA. Susan

Hi Mia, I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing all the beautiful things you make. The white cover was great but this wow and you made the cover you are really a good seamstress. Now I know what kind of fabric I'm going to use on my chairs in the quilting studio nothing came to me until I saw your chair. Debbie from Delaware (near the ocean) in the U.S.

Tusen takk.

Klem:)

It's so beautiful!!!! Oh, I'm such a Laura Ashley girl, myself. Now, isn't it funny how a change - even from white to color - can be so refreshing? And, it's perfect for those Valentine's colors - so welcome in February. I got a cheery lift just looking at it, myself. =]

Really...hooray for pretty roses! =]

All things beautiful sa...

WOW! You did that cover yourself? You are really creative and talented.

Cecilia sa...

very beautiful! I like the crochet cushion cover, too, do you have a pattern for that?

Mia sa...

Hi Cecilia! I am glad to hear you like the crochet cushion. Yet I am sorry I can not help you with the pattern. You see, I have bought the crochet square at the flea market (I think someone had a go at the particular pattern, and then gave it up), and I have just sewn the square onto a piece of linen and turned it into a cushion, adding the lace.
