Random December ramblings

Do sit down and have a cup of Christmas tea and chocolate cake (the recipe can be found here) as this is a long rambling post about random Christmassy things a casa mia.

Remember the oranges and cloves from my post the other day? Well, now they are (finally) done and are here to spread their lovely scent in the room.

Look who is here for the holidays! The lovely Zara is going to spend Christmas and New Year with us. We could not be more pleased.

We would love to have a dog, but being able to borrow this lovely creature every now and then is the second best thing.

No Christmas without angels, and here is one of my very favourite one. She has made many an appearance here in my blog, and is likely to make many more...

My tree is also decorated with angels.. and baubles... and cones (not a single Santa, his helper "nisse" or Santa´s sleigh in sight..)

Last, but not least... my Christmas stockings. These are the very first pair I made several years ago. They are the "mother" of all my other stockings.

Since I made these I have developed the design a fair bit, but this first pair remains a firm favourites in our house. So much so that my hubby does not want me sell them, or give them away as gifts (like I have done with the others).

Ah well, who am I to complain... these stockings hold delightful memories from Christmases past. There is certainly a lot to be said for old favourites.

Lovely photos, and is the dog a bedlington terrier?......I have just spent the afternoon baking for a big teaparty tomorrow and was a tad worried not having enough cakes etc and was wondering what to bake when I come across your lovely recipe....brilliant...thank you for sharing.

Your house is just perfectly lovely.
I can smell the clove-y oranges - wish I could get some Christmas tea around here - I don't think we have that in Connecticut.

I have two little nisse hanging on our tree which I bought from Garnet Hill http://www.garnethill.com/maileg-pixie-ornament/bedding-home/holiday-decor/trim-the-tree/189233
I find them hard to resist!

Your stockings are beautiful, I'm glad your husband won't let you sell them.
What a perfectly lovely home you have, all prepared for Christmas. There are no Santas on my tree either, but lots of stars and angels.

If you like angels.. you should look for some Italian cherub/angel ornaments.. I have 4 of them and just love them. I put them on my blog recently. Enjoy your part-time dog. :-)

Mia, tonight as I catch up on my favorite blogs, I am baking yet another bunch of Christmas cookies. My oranges, cloves and cinnamon still wait for time to prepare the pomanders. For now, I will enjoy the increasing aroma of butter, vanilla and sugar baking away!

I also bought some cedar and holly branches today and so now have a bit of greenery in the apartment.

I so love this time of the year! xo

Hi Mia! Happy Holidays to you! I´m a little late but tis the season! Oh Zara is absolutely stunning, looks like she has found a lovely spot in your home! Why can´t you have dogs? You have sheep? You should get a Bichon Havanais like my little Cookie..they are allergy friendly dogs and don´t take up much space and are full of personality! :-)
I enjoy your blog so much and just want you to know I´m looking forward to all you have to share with us in 2012! I´m awaiting a blanket which I had a friend make which is similar to one on your blog. I´ll post photos of it when it arrives. It´s a crocheted blanket, I could never do the work myself, no patience and two left hands but I saw the blanket on your blog and had to have one!
Happy Holidays dear Mia :-)
