November

November is not my favourite month by a long shot, and I tend to think there really is very little to commend it. Daylight is increasingly scarce, and the days tend to be gloomy and wet.

This year´s November being no exception. But today I decided to try and find some beauty in a gloomy November day, and accompanied by my trusty camera I went out to look for that very thing.

Of course I did not have to go far to find something to lift my spirits. I headed straight towards the barn. A month ago it was still empty, save for the pile of manure waiting to be spread on the fields.

Now I am pleased to tell you the manure is long gone, and the barn is once again populated by our lovely flock of sheep, including a handsome new ram "Peder", who is proving to be quite popular with the ladies.

I often tend to think of November as an "in-between" month. A month in between the glorious autumn colours of October, and the joyous Holiday celebrations of December.

As I rather not think of Christmas yet, I prefer to enjoy the last of autumn colours in my garden instead. Of course these colours are starting to get quite scarce by now, but there is still some to be found.

Last year the snow came early , but I rather hope that will not be the case this year. Right now I think November as this is not half bad as is, after all...

How about you, do you like November?

I like November because it starts getting cold and I love to stay at home drinking a cup of tea, or take a walk in the park (wearing lovely hats)!

Hi Mia.. greetings from Oregon, USA. Actually, your post made me realize that you can always find beauty and happiness if you look for it, no matter when it is. You are very blessed to live in such a wide open countryside. I enjoy our little farm place, too.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Hei Mia

November on the coast is usually rainy and a good time to bring in logs for the fire. I don't mind the rain - am always relieved and happy that it isn't snow!

I also think that November is a bit of a transitional month. The chill and shorter daylight arrive, but just to test us.

December is when winter really grabs us, with beauty and holidays and excitement and ... really cold weather!

Your sheep are so beautiful. xo

Hi Mia,
November is my get ready month. It gives me time to reflect about our upcoming holidays, and to take a rest before things get busier. Time to clean my home, and rake the leaves outside. A chance to rest, before I must think about our Thanksgiving holiday in the States.
Have a wonderful week!

Godt å se deg her igjen.

No, I don't like November either, but I make the best of this month! I make long walks with my dog Kyra on the beach and in the forrest and enjoy all the things nature gives us. And when the evening comes and it's going to be dark, I take my quiltwork and make some stitches while I'm listening to some lovely music. And yes.... then I'm happy....Enjoy November! Love from Margreet

I don't know why but I don't like november and february.
I likje october's autumn. But not november's autumn. It looks grey and sad and dirty...

Nydelige bilder!

I like November, with the colder nights and cool crisp days. However this year we seemed to have skipped November and gone straight to winter. This is the third week in a row we are getting snow and I mean measurable snow. We have not even cleaned up the garden yet or raked leaves...it just keeps on snowing.
This is early for us, so maybe things will not get done till spring, I do not know. Just roll with the weather and snow.
Loved the pictures.

I love November but the first year that I lived in New England, I thought it was the dullest most depressing, cold, 'inbetween' month! Now, I enjoy it's muted, stark beauty. It kicks me into 'spring clean' for the winter and the holidays mood. Also, for those of us in the US, it's the month that contains Thanksgiving, which brings all sorts of mellow, homey, warm feelings and thoughts to mind. Not to mention all of the subtle light and purples and pinks on the trees and in the sky - my favorite colors. My words are falling short - I, now, love this month! =]
