Look what I found...

In my attempt to bring some more cosy colour into my autumn living room, while still sticking to my beloved pastel colours, I went for a rummage up to the loft to see if anything usable could be found there.

And I think I found it. A colourful kelim rug that has been hiding there for quite some time. Now I know I have previously made a few feeble attempts with rugs. Without much success, I might add.

Even the one I now brought down has made a short appearance in the blog before, only to be returned back into the dark attic. But I am fond of this kelim (suppose it is the reason I have been hanging on to it for years), so once again I am willing to give it a go.

I do like to think it adds a certain element of cosiness. And I like the colours in it, and tend to think that they go with my otherwise lighter, brighter colours. But what colour do I see in the rug...?

Orange! I have always thought orange is not "my" colour, but here it is, in my rug. And now that I have a second look at my knitted squares (from the previous entry) maybe I should not have been quite so harsh with the orange wool I bought (and returned to the store). Ah well, it is never too late...

The rug does warm up the place and gives it an Autumn feel. You can always take it up again when you're ready for more light. Your new blanket is looking great!

Mia, I am another kelim fan, and so admire the harmony in their varying patterns and colorways. I think that they find a harmony with the color of the floor (particularly when that floor is wood) and encourage us to add a few other shades to our lives.

Your flower arrangement definitely picks up on colors in your kelim and also in your other more familiar colorways. And that sunlight embraces it all!

Your knit squares are very pretty, and I might be tempted to add just one or two more shades as an experiment to see what "vibrations" are set off amongst the other neighboring colors.

Best wishes!

I am not a huge fan of orange.. for most of the year. But come Autumn I can't get enough of it!! I love seeing your lantern.. you know I found one almost the same except mine is rust colored. I need to get it on the Autumn table and light a candle in it. Does your candle get hot inside your lantern? Mine do and get all melty. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I love the colours of your kelim rug, which certainly adds some autumn warmth to your lovely calm room. I like your choice of colours for the new blanket, I don't think any improvement could possibly be made.

Dear Mia,

I have been following your blog recently, but it's enough to be thrilled with everything I see! Actually your room is very cozy, with colorful cushions on these chairs. I love the flowers that you put in the jars are beautiful. I even feel at home looking at your photos!
I am using a translator, because I live in Brazil and do not speak English, Norwegian and even less (must be very difficult)! I've studied German and Russian, but it was long ago and I can not remember.
I am a teacher of patchwork, illustrator and also a student of graphic design.
Would appreciate your visit on my blog, though he was outdated because it does not have much time to update ulimamente.
A good Sunday to you!

Thanks,

Hi Asht! Thank you for your kind comments. Of course you are welcome to feature my blog in your "a Sunday a blog" entry. What is the name of your blog, by the way? I would like to stop by.

Zara, the dog, is a labradoodle. Unfortunately she is not mine, but belongs to our friends. I am only lucky enough to look after her every now and then.
